Google Data & Privacy

This page explains, specifically, how AthleticDesk uses data from a user's Google account. It supplements our general Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, which apply to AthleticDesk as a whole.

Signing in

AthleticDesk uses Google Sign-In to authenticate users. This requests your basic Google profile and email address (profile, email) so we can identify you and match you to the correct school and role. We do not receive your Google password.

Connecting Google Calendar & Sheets exports

An Athletic Director may separately choose to connect their Google account to unlock schedule publishing and Google Sheets exports. This is optional, is initiated deliberately (it is not part of ordinary sign-in), and requests the following scopes:

ScopeWhat it's used for
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events Creating, updating, and deleting the events AthleticDesk publishes to the Google Calendar the athletic director chooses, when a game is added, changed, or removed in AthleticDesk. AthleticDesk does not create or delete calendars, change sharing, or read calendar settings, and it does not read events it did not publish.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file Creating a new Google Sheet in the user's Drive when they choose to export data (for example, a schedule export, a bus request sheet, the Canva content sheet, or a year-end archive) instead of downloading a CSV or Excel file, and keeping that same sheet up to date. This permission covers only files AthleticDesk itself creates — AthleticDesk cannot see, open, or modify any other file or spreadsheet in the user's Drive.

Gmail

AthleticDesk does not request access to Gmail. Emails such as the daily athletics report are prepared inside AthleticDesk and copied to your clipboard; you paste and send them yourself from your own email account.

What we store

To keep a calendar in sync without asking you to reconnect every time, AthleticDesk stores an authorization token for the Google connection you set up. We use it only to perform the actions described above on your behalf.

What we don't do

AthleticDesk does not sell Google user data, does not use it for advertising, and does not share it with third parties except as needed to provide the features described above (for example, Google's own APIs). Only the minimum scopes needed for the features described here are requested.

AthleticDesk's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Revoking access

A user can revoke AthleticDesk's access at any time from their Google Account permissions page. Revoking access will disable Google Calendar publishing and Google Sheets exports until access is reconnected.
